The University of Alabama-Huntsville held their second Elite basketball camp of the summer last Sunday, and the competition was next level this go around.

Head Coach John Shulman and staff have continued to amaze me by the number of players they bring out and give them a stage to work on and showcase their skills. This camp gives them the opportunity to get hands-on training from college players and a chance to be seen by college coaches.

I have to applaud the players that came out; they worked extremely hard from start to finish. They went hard on every drill and still had enough gas to compete during the scrimmages. With just two more camp dates, I can’t wait to see the next round of talent that step through the doors of Huntsville.

Here are some key standouts from the 2nd Elite Camp.

Jasen Brooks - Brooks was one the first players to catch my eye just off his natural ability to score the rock. You can tell that he's definitely has the potential to be a high major talent. He has elite handles and is crafty getting into the lane. Brooks can finish through contact with his bouncy athleticism and can shoot the three. He’s talkative on defense and plays with a very high motor.

Hayden Drumwright - Drumwright had a smooth flow to the game; he made smart decisions with his passes and his shot selection was great. He has solid handles and doesn’t seem bothered by high pressure defense. Drumwright has a smooth jumper that he knocks down consistently and his motor is nonstop. He gives natural leadership on the court and has great awareness on defense, he was the complete package in my eyes.

Jaylen Roberts - No player made more noise than the slasher Jaylen Roberts. I was really impressed with his athletic ability, the game seems to come natural to him. He’s very explosive and plays above the rim. Roberts is quite swift in transition, many times he would grab the rebound then blast off as a coast-to-coast scorer. Roberts is a solid shot blocker and he plays with great energy on the defensive end.

Caiden Botts - Botts was another guard that could do a little of everything on both ends of the floor. He was very aggressive getting to the rim and would turn around and be a menace on defense. Botts is a true competitor who’s giving 1000% on every play. He has a solid shot around the perimeter and a strong finisher.

Zachary Byrd - Byrd is a 6-foot-5 forward that really knows his way around the post. I was really impressed with his aggressive rebounding and his high motor getting up and down the floor. Bryd has a smooth shot from the top of the key and is very efficient finishing under the basket. His post moves are top-notch, using his size to score over smaller defenders with his soft touch at the rim.
