A 6-foot-7 guard and elite shooter Zach Gray closes his recruiting by fully committing to continue his basketball career at Lee University.
“I feel like I'm at home,” Gray said. “It just feels comfortable and right. The relationship with the coaches was the biggest part for me and the team was also very welcoming.”
Gray says he has great love for head coach Ryan Smith and he looks forward to having two of coach Laatsch’s sons coach me alongside coach smith.
“Over the years at Lee, I look forward to seeing my body and skill develop and coming in will do my best to try and fit those missing roles for my teammates,” he said.
Gray has a nice frame playing off the wing, he does a solid job of breaking down defenders for a quick lay-in. Gray has incredible control getting in between the defense and is very patient with his shot selection. He is very confident in his shot, and he’s never phased by a close-out defender.
Gray helped Spain Park high school to a successful season with a 27-8 record and a strong run in the playoffs. Just one game shy of making it to state, Spain Park fell short to Enterprise but Gray has aspirations to make it to the big game this season.
“As I approach my last season at Spain Park, I just want to win a state championship and end my high school career with no regrets and just have a lot of fun,” Gray added.
